Another quiet week for Tigers in the NFL. With not a score or a big play among them, the biggest news of the week may have been the return of Chase Daniel to the field at quarterback, not just as a holder.
With the fleur-de-lis up several scores in the fourth quarter, Daniel trotted onto the field for garbage time. He ran for 16 yards before the Panthers brought him down.
Daniel’s entrance into the game fueled rumors of an injury, possibly to the MCL, of starting quarterback Drew Brees–rumors Brees adamantly denies.
Some have begun to call for a two quarterback system in New Orleans, as Brees has struggled to run successfully out of the bootleg as Daniel did on Sunday.
Due to Brad Smith’s negligibility as a receiver, I have switched his weekly stat line from this point forward to display his rushing statistics out of the wildcat formation instead of receiving stats. Should he begin catching passes again–a feat the former QB has accomplished only once this season–expect to see another change.
He continues to return kicks.
Danario Alexander, Justin Gage, and Justin Smith enjoyed a week off.
Ziggy hood had multiple tackles in the same game for the first time this year.
Sean Weatherspoon continues to sit out with a leg injury.
